Sam Shattles

Mr. Sam Shattles, 56, of Sylvester, GA died April 4, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were 4 p.m. Sunday at Kimbrell-Stern. Rev. David Joiner officiated. The family received friends one hour prior to the service at Kimbrell-Stern. Interment will be at a later date in Eastview Cemetery, Shellman, GA.

A native of Terrell Co., GA Mr. Shattles lived in Worth County since 1993 where he was of the Baptist faith and worked for the Sylvester Police Department. He graduated from Randolph County High School and attended Darton College. He loved to fish with his nephew “Buddy” and loved his dogs.

Mr. Shattles was preceded in death by his daughter, Rose Marie Shattles; father, Rufus Shattles; brother, Rufus Taylor and sisters, Alice Chambliss and Hattie Marie Taylor.

Survivors include his daughters, April Shattles of Pensacola, FL, Samantha Stubbs of Sasser, GA and Lindsey Shattles of Albany, GA; son, Brian Shattles of Albany, GA; grandchildren, Nadijah Shattles and Jubei Odom; mother, Wessie Bea Shattles of Cuthbert, GA; brothers, Fred Taylor and his wife Dorothy of Sylvester, GA; X.M. Taylor of Blakely, GA; Jack Taylor of Tallahassee, FL; Frank Taylor and his wife Ellen of Blakely, GA; Monroe Taylor and his wife Annette of Blakely, GA, David Taylor of Bainbridge, GA, Chad Taylor of Dothan, AL and Dave Bruner of Edison, GA; sisters, Teresa Taylor, Hattie Taylor and Denise Taylor, all of Milledgeville, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to the American Heart Association, 5962 Zebulon Road, P.O. Box 359 Macon, GA 31210.

The family will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Taylor 108 York Rd., Sylvester, GA 31791.
