Mrs. Myrtice Brown Phillips of Blakely died Friday December 19, 2014 at Early Memorial Nursing Home in Blakely.
The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Monday December 22, 2014 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Grady Morey officiated.
Mrs. Phillips was born in Miller County on October 7, 1916 to the late Leroy Lamar and Cenella Addison Brown. She had lived in Blakely for the past 3 months moving there from Colquitt Alternative Care. Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and a minister’s wife who enjoyed sewing, reading and cooking. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Evelyn P. Burdette of Albany, Joyce P. Hall of Americus and Mary McFay Griffin of Blakely; sisters-in-law, Helen Hazel Brown of Orlando, Fl, Jessie Strickland of Jacksonville, Fl; 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. H.E. Phillips on June 6, 1998; a son, Harmon Lamon “Monnie” Phillips; a grandson, Bobby Nihart and 6 siblings.Pallbearers included Stan Hall, Kyle P. Burdette, Mack Brown, Cleve McFay, Josh Thomas and Curt Etheridge.
