Letter to the Editor

Posted on March 12, 2015 By Sylvester Local

Letter to the EditorI’ve listened to the general manager of WALB, Jim Wilcox, run his mouth these last few days about the arrest of “gun runners” and the shooting that took place in Worth County. I share the opinion with many others that Jim Wilcox is a first class, grade “A” jerk. First, the only reason he pressed so hard for the names of deputies who were placed in the position of having to take a criminal down was so he could harass the deputies and/or their families. He never gave any thought of what the deputy was going through. Jim Wilcox has never had to shoot anybody!!! But it goes further than this. He continually directs negative comments to and about officials because he believes he can. How this man ever became manager of a T V station, even a dinky little T V station is beyond thought. Now to his accusation about the Worth County Sheriff’s department. The open law states that the public is entitled to information through the open information law. However it doesn’t have to come from an official upon the demand from a jerk. It is an open record, and anyone who wishes may review that record once it becomes available. But Jim Wilcox wanted to get ahead of Channel 31 with names. And, he didn’t care who it hurt. I haven’t talked with Sheriff Hobby but I’m sure he had no intention of allowing Channel 10 to harass the deputy after what the deputy had just gone through. I’m sure WALB would be much better off without Jim Wilcox. He’s come close a couple of times. Maybe they will remove him yet.
