Joe Burnam

Mr. Joe Burnam, 82, of Sylvester died Friday March 11, 2016 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Monday March 14, 2016 at Northside Baptist Church. The interment was held at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery in Coffee County. The Rev. Jimmy Cargle and Rev. Jerry Cooper officiated.

Mr. Burnam was born in Douglas, GA on December 21, 1933 to the late Leroy and Stella Mae Stone Burnam. He had lived in Sylvester since 1961. Mr. Burnam was a former owner and operator of Joe’s Cleaners from November 1, 1961 until his retirement. Mr. Burnam was a deacon and a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Oveida Dorminey Burnam of Sylvester; sons, Stan Burnam of Douglas, Steve Burnam (Hansene) of Cordele ; grandchildren, Billy Burnam (Evonne), Brad Burnam (Kristin); great grandchildren, Elaina Burnam, Gunner Burnam, and Raylee Jo Burnam; step-grandchildren, Russell Taunton (Paige), Wesley Taunton (Laura), Mitch Taunton; brother, Kenneth “Pee Wee” Burnam of Ambrose and a sister, Shirley Adams of Douglas

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burnam was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Kirkland.

Pallbearers included Bill Gilman, James Hawke, Robin McCrary, Donald Young, Gary Pitts and Laney Whitacre.
