Mr. Eugene Jones, Sr., 75, of Sylvester died Thursday March 24, 2016 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Saturday March 26, 2016 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel. The interment followed in the Poulan City Cemetery. The Rev. Gordon Poole officiated.
Mr. Jones was born in Spalding County on December 15, 1940 to the late Elmer Steven Jones, Sr. and Maggie Larie Hatcher Jones. He had lived in Worth County for the past sixty years. Mr. Jones was a retired carpenter and attended the Lighthouse Church of God. He enjoyed fishing and going to yard sales.
Survivors include his sons, Gene Jones, Jr. (Sandra) of Sylvester, Tracy L. Jones (Rosemary) of Sylvester; grandchildren, Kelly Blalock (Jamie), Kristy Gibson (Zach), Christopher Jones (Nicole), Ethan Morris, Aaron Jones, Anna Jones, Kalli Brooke Jones, Trenton, Landon and JoHannah Jones; great grandchildren, Brittney Blalock, Kaycee Blalock, Makaila Jones, Corbitt Jones, Kadence Gibson and Cayson Jones; brother, Elmer Jones Jr. of Atlanta; sisters, Yvonne Terry of Albany and Pat McDonald of TN.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Williams Jones on November 2, 2014; and a sister, Louise Blackmon.
Pallbearers included Jason Shiver, Lenny Davis, Jeff Thompson, Johnny Sumner, Michael Harbison, and Jerry Walters.
