OneBlood Donation Opportunities

Posted on June 14, 2016June 14, 2016 By Sylvester Local

For several years SRTC has partnered with OneBlood to service those is need in our area. In the wake of the tragic event in Orlando, OneBlood says the immediate need for O Positive,  O Negative, and AB Plasma are heightened. While they maintain it is crucial to their banks for donors to give regularly, situations like this only magnify that need. Prior to the event in Florida, SRTC had scheduled two blood drives: one in Thomasville for Monday, June 20th and one in Moultrie for Tuesday, June 21st. Generally these events are not publicized to the community, but we would like to open our locations to anyone that wishes to donate on either of those days. To quote Pat Michaels, a Florida spokesman for OneBlood, “I’ve been here 13 years and never seen a response like this,” said Pat Michaels, a spokesman for OneBlood, as he revealed the blood centers were at capacity with walk-up donors. The sentiment is understood and appreciated, but it’s a little too much, too soon,” he said.

The OneBlood team will be in Thomasville on Monday, June 20th from 11:00AM until 3:30AM and in Moultrie on Tuesday, June 21st from 9:00AM until 2:00PM.
