Nothing quite signifies the start of Fall for most Worth County citizens any more than the Annual Georgia Peanut Festival. This year’s 50th Annual Celebration of our most prized cash crop has plenty of exciting events planned for the entire family.
The festivities kick off on Friday October 18th with a golf tournament at 8 a.m. Held again at Pineknoll Country Club, there will be cash prizes, a bbq lunch, and a brand new Ford truck is the grand prize for a hole-in-one.
A gospel sing is planned for later that evening featuring Harper Trio, Southern Majesty, and Living Water at 6:30 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church, located on Bryant Drive.
Bright and early the next morning, Saturday the 19th runners can register beginning at 7 a.m. for the 5k run scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m. The Peter Pan Peanut Butter Arts & Crafts Festival will begin at 9 a.m. in Jeffords Park and will host a variety of must-see attractions like the Sea Lion Splash Show, which is also featured at the Georgia National Fair in Perry, a zip line and performances by the WCHS Jazz Band, Cam Brown, Jarrod Brogdon, Daniel Parrish, and Steve Gryb the “Pied Piper of Percussion.”
As always our Peter Pan Peanut Butter Parade will take over the downtown area at 10 a.m. One of the most anticipated additions to the festival this year is the concert on the Big Stage Downtown Saturday night that will feature performers TJ Mauldin and Mainstream. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. on Kelly Street. The public is encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and dancing shoes.
With the amount of entertainment and activities getting geared up for the 50th Anniversary of the Georgia Peanut Festival, it is sure to be one to go down in the history books and make the citizens of this great county proud.
