Alex Llera

Alex passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in Cagayan, April 29, 2013. He was 84 years old; he was born to Juanito and Juanita Llera in 1929. He had four brothers, Louis, Robert, Johnny and George. His father, a U.S. Naval Captain was stationed at St. Thomas, Virgin Islands where Alex was born.
Alex was a 20 year military veteran having served in the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam war. He retired from the Army in 1965. After the military he became a master chef and was employed at Harrah’s Casino and Restaurant at South Lake Tahoe, California for another 20 years.
Alex was first married to Jaynelle Smith of Cordele, Georgia. He had one step-daughter, Jerelyn Nunnelly (Kizzer); one daughter, Tonie Llera Holton Brady; one son, Mark Llera.Alex had two grandchildren, Nikki Winninger and Johnny Holton; two great-grandchildren, Joey and Alex.
Alex was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Jaynelle, son Mark, brothers George and Johnny.
Alex is survived by his wife Betty and daughter Cindy Llera, daughter Tonie, brothers Louis and Robert and all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held in Cagayan, Saturday May 4, 2013.
