False Report of a Crime Leads to Pimping and Prostitution Charges

Posted on November 21, 2013 By Sylvester Local

On November 4, 2013 at 8:03 p.m., Sylvester Police Officers were dispatched to the VFW parking lot in Sylvester in reference to an Armed Robbery.  James Melvin Pitts (52) of Poulan, Georgia, reported standing outside of his 18 wheel commercial vehicle, checking hydraulic hoses, when he was approached and robbed by an unknown black male and unknown white female. Mr. Pitts stated that both subjects left, running towards Bridges Street trailer park. An investigation revealed no robbery occurred.

Pitts contacted Octavious Ernest Williams (24) of Sylvester and asked him to arrange a meeting with a female for sexual favors. Williams and Christina Marie Hutchison (23) of Sylvester, made contact with Pitts. Pitts paid Williams for arranging the meeting and also paid Hutchison for promised sexual favors.

Once in the vehicle, Hutchison stated she needed to leave and would come back to follow through with the arrangements. However, she did not return so Pitts reported he had been robbed.

Pitts has been charged with False Report of a Crime and Pandering. Williams has been charged with Pimping, and Hutchison has been charged with Prostitution. All parties have been arrested and released on bond.

Yesterday at 6:25 a.m., Sylvester Police Officers were dispatched to 116 Hamilton Circle in reference to an unresponsive child. Upon arrival, officers found a seven-week-old child unresponsive with active CPR in progress. Officers assisted with CPR until Worth County EMS arrived. The child was unable to be revived. An investigation revealed no signs of foul play. The child was transported to Macon where an autopsy was performed this morning to determine cause of death.
