Jacqueline Hill Bridges

Mrs. Jacqueline Hill Bridges, 81, of Williamson, GA died Saturday February 22, 2014 at her residence.
The funeral service was  held at 2 p.m. on Monday February 24, 2014 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Reverend Austin Glass officiated.
Pallbearers included Michael Brightwell, Derrick Eldridge, Preston Dowdy, II, Wes Rosencrantz, Raymond Truluck, Jr. and Nathan Dowdy.
Mrs. Bridges was born on August 5, 1932 to the late Ernest and Esther Mable Shivers Hill in Turner County. She lived many years in Moultrie before moving to Williamson to be near her daughter. Mrs. Bridges was formerly employed with Moultrie Textile and worked many years at Moultrie Manufacturing. She worked 15 years at Colquitt Regional Medical Center as a labor and delivery nurse.
Mrs. Bridges also worked at the Quitman Nursing Home, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, gardening and watching birds at her feeders. Mrs. Bridges loved the North Georgia Mountains and spent many vacations there. She also traveled to California to the Redwood Forest, England, Scotland and the Bahamas. Mrs. Bridges was a devoted Baptist, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family dearly and sacrificed so much for them. Mrs. Bridges was married to James J. Bridges for 32 plus years.
Survivors include her children, Brenda S. Thompson (Richard) of Blairsville, Cindy Shelton (Dennis) of Moultrie, Mary Bridges of Braselton and Melissa B. Dowdy (Travis) of Williamson; daughter-in-law, Deborah Bridges of Moultrie; sisters, Joan Bishop of Barnesville and Nell Sumner of Sylvester; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bridges was preceded in death by her two sons, Frank N. Bridges and Kenneth Bridges, and a brother Billy Wallace Hill.
