Mr. Bobby Nelson Malcom, 80, passed away peacefully at his home in Ty Ty on Monday, July 29, 2019.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2019, in the chapel of Albritton Funeral Directors with Reverend Robbie Paulk officiating. Burial followed at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31st at the funeral home.
Noal Malcom, Ben Tanner, Michael Perlis, Jody Steedley, Ross Parrish and Matt Jones will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Malcom was born October 23, 1938 in Tift County to the late Noel Malcom and Essie LeSueur Malcom, also of Ty Ty. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Merle Tanner. He married his high school sweetheart, Charlene Smith Malcom, to whom he was married for more that 57 years. Mr. Malcom was a lifetime member of Ty Ty United Methodist Church and was personnel director with Georgia Department of Transportation for thirty-two years before retiring. After retiring from the Georgia DOT, he owned Smith’s Nursery in Ty Ty, working alongside his wife to help countless people pick out the perfect plants and flowers to make their lawns and gardens beautiful. He was a veteran with the United States National Guard and graduated from Tifton High School.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Malcom is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Kent Belan of Watkinsville; one son Nelson Malcom of Ty Ty; five grandchildren, Noal Malcom, Kelsie Belan, Lynsie Belan all of Atlanta, Charlie Belan of Watkinsville and Madison Malcom of Omega; one sister Kathryn Vining of Tifton.
The family wishes to thank Homestead Hospice and the staff of Cypress at Home for their special care.
