Janice Marilyn Sumner

Miss Janice Marilyn “Jan” Sumner Register, 76, of Shingler died Tuesday April 1, 2014 at her residence.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Friday April 4, 2014 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Danny Smith officiated.
Pallbearers included Mark Hayes, Will Worn, Jonathan Popham, John Allen Popham, Brent Register and Ron Register; honorary pallbearers included, Walter Young, Ricky Bartley, Jerry Walters, David Swett, George Hobby, Keith White and Jimmy Snipes.
Miss Register was born at home in Shingler on April 7, 1937 to the late Fred Morgan Sumner and Mary Holton Sumner Register. Miss Register was raised in the Shingler community and attended school in Sumner where she graduated in 1955. She later attended ABAC in Tifton. Miss Register worked in the pecan business until her retirement. She enjoyed gardening, raising goats, horses and spending time with her dog and constant companion, Ta Ta.
Miss Register was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include her sisters, Kaye Register Popham (John) of Sylvester and Debra Brookner of Tifton; brothers, Lonnie Edward “Sonny” Register, Jr. (Sue) of Athens, Ronald Gary “Joe” Register (Joy) of Sylvester and David Phillip Register (Dianne) of Sylvester, and several nieces and nephews and her beloved pet, Ta Ta.
In addition to her parents Miss Register was preceded in death by her second daddy, Lonnie Edward Register, Sr.
