George Willis

Mr. George Willis, 83, of Albany died Thursday May 1, 2014 at his residence.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Mitchell County. Reverends Brent Willis, Douglas Hatcher, Mylan Brookins, Jeff Parmer and John Buras officiated.
Pallbearers included Brent Willis, Daniel Willis, Kevin Wade, Larry Willis, Jake Fallin, Dave LeGrand and Roger Cooper.
Mr. Willis was born on January 24, 1931 in Bridgeboro, GA to the late Benjamin Franklin and Ruby Lee Bass Willis. He lived in Worth and Mitchell Counties all of his life. Mr. Willis was retired from the Lilliston Corporation as a supervisor and was a retired minister. He loved his grand and great-grandchildren and his animals.
Survivors include his children, David Willis (Robbie) of Montgomery, AL, Clint Willis (Margie) of Mitchell County, Donna Thomas (Judson) of Mitchell County and Nina Price (Donald) of Bridgeboro; grandchildren, Brooke LeGrand, Brent Willis, Larry Willis, Daniel Willis, Michelle Cooper, Lauren Fallin, Maegan Thomas and Jenifer Brown; great-grandchildren, Natalie and Colby Willis, Noah and Lakelyn Fallin, Will and Joshua LeGrand, Cade and Kaitlyn Willis, Megan, Madison, Rose, Robert, Morgan and Bella Cooper and Logan Brown; sister, Laura Jane Gunn of Columbus; brothers; Winburn F. Willis of Edison and Harris Willis of Poulan; special friend, Jerri Brown and special canine companions, Buddy and Buttons.
The family would like to thank Albany Community Hospice and his caregivers.
Mr. Willis was preceded in death by his wife, Hulda Hatcher Willis on June 9, 1988 and granddaughter, Jessica Ledford on January 20, 2008.
