Mrs. Lola Rutherford Poole, 91, of Sylvester died Saturday June 28, 2014 at her residence.
The funeral service were held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday July 1, 2014 at the Isabella Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Isabella Cemetery. Rev. Jason Jones and Rev. Al Wilbourn will officiate.
Mrs. Poole was born on March 13, 1923 in Fulton County to the late Orlando Daniel and Viola Roper Rutherford. She was a 1941 graduate of Bridgeboro High School and the Albany Vocational School. During the 1950’s she and her husband managed Kinnetts Sandwich Shop in Albany. Mrs. Poole retired from the Dougherty County Department of Family and Children’s Services in 1975. Prior to her retirement she was employed by attorney Hugh Shackelford, Brunson Insurance Agency, Rosenbergs and the Georgia Cigar & Tobacco Company.
Mrs. Poole and her husband were active in the Order of The Eastern Star for many years, and she remained an active member of the Worth County Chapter. She was a member of the Isabella Baptist Church and the Homemakers Sunday School Class and a former member of Lake Blackshear Baptist Church in Warwick. Mrs. Poole has many beloved friends at both churches.
She will be remembered by all her friends and family as one who always put others before herself. She loved cooking for others and working with her flowers. Her love for her church, her sense of humor, dedication to family and her faith in God has touched many lives. She will be missed greatly by all that knew her.
Mrs. Poole is survived by many special nieces and nephews on her side of the family as well as her husband’s side; she is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Faye Poole.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Poole was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton E. Poole on December 3, 1983; daughter, Barbara P. Stripling on March 23, 2005; son, R. Wayne Poole; brothers, William T. Rutherford, John D. Rutherford, Eugene C. Rutherford, James A. Rutherford and Marvin R. Rutherford; sisters, Alma R. Blalock and Susie R. Paul.
Serving as pallbearers were Melvin Rutherford, Roger Rutherford, Thomas Rutherford, George Paul, David Bearden and Chad Pate.
