Michael Wayne Murphy

Mr. Michael Wayne Murphy, 54, of Sylvester died Saturday June 28, 2014 at his residence.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday July 2, 2014 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery.   The Rev. Gordon Poole will officiate.

Mr. Murphy was born on November 8, 1959 in Albany and had lived in Worth County since 1985. He was employed with Spirit Construction as a pipefitter.  Mr. Murphy enjoyed drag racing, riding motorcycles and dirt track racing.  He was a member of New Life Tabernacle Church.

Survivors include his parents, Bedford and Shirley Murphy of Sylvester; sisters, Teresa Hinson (Mike) and Jennifer Powell (Critt) all of Sylvester; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Murphy was preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia Floyd from Sumter, SC on April 28, 2013

Pallbearers included Critt Powell, Phillip Raby, Brian Delk, Darrien Harding, Bruce Summerford, Jamie Beckwith and Mike Hitt.
