Henry Hyde McGirt

Alexander Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Henry Hyde McGirt Jr., age 76 of Sautee. Mr. McGirt passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, April 4, 2013 from the Poulan City Cemetery in Poulan, Georgia.
Mr. McGirt was born in Poulan, Georgia on July 24, 1936 to the late Henry Hyde McGirt Sr. and Frances Daniel McGirt. He is preceded in death by his sister, Frances Belle and brother Harry McGirt. He served with honor in the United States Air Force and later graduated from Auburn University in 1962 with a degree in engineering, and was the Chief Engineer on the H53J Helicopter for 33 years. In 1994 Mr. McGirt decided to retire and spend his time creating wooden toys.
He is survived by his wife, Frances McGirt of Sautee, GA; children, Henry Hyde McGirt, III of Warner Robins, GA, Sharon Leigh Kill (Douglas) of Wapakonetia, OH and David Alexander McGirt (Jodie) of Lake Martin, AL; brother, Robert Daniel McGirt of Albany, GA; five grandchildren and five great-grand dogs.
Flowers will be acknowledged; however, it is requested that memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
