Daphine Horten Pate

Mrs. Daphine Horten Pate, 73, of Sylvester died Wednesday July 16, 2014 at her residence.

The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Saturday July 19, 2014 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Rev. Jerry Etheredge, Elder Wendell Horten and Rev. Randolph Pate officiated.

Mrs. Pate was born on August 29, 1940 in Sylvester, to the late Lewis Edward and Bertha Hazel Varnadoe Horten. She had lived in Worth County most of her life. She was a homemaker who enjoyed the outdoors. Mrs. Pate loved her grandchildren, her church and Bible. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas F. Pate of Sylvester; daughters, Pam P. Dixon (David) of Sylvester and Lynn Welch of Sylvester; son, Mitch Pate (Terrie) of Sylvester; sisters, Inez Grant (Obie) of Sylvester and Jeanette Young of Sylvester; brother, Wendell Horten (Pat) of Sylvester; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pate was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Ray Pate, Sr. and Tony Pate; two grandsons, Thomas “Ray Ray” Pate and Troy Welch.

Pallbearers included Austin Kelley, Justin Pate, T.J. Pate, Doug Dixon, Adam Pate, and Tyler Sprulock.

Banks Funeral Home in Sylvester was in charge of the arrangements.
