Jimmy Snipes, a longtime gardener planted a late crop of white peas, zinnias and mammoth sunflowers in early September this year. It was too dry to plant in August. He was successful in growing some 8” to 10” sunflowers, having white peas to put into the freezer and zinnias for the migrating butterflies. His family will be blessed by having white peas, tomatoes and sweet peppers for Thanksgiving dinner.
