In Georgia over 75,000 people experience homelessness at sometime during the year, according to the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. The disparity in these numbers is very telling and shines light on the need for more funding for agencies and individuals. National research indicates that the most effective strategy for addressing homelessness is to move individuals and families into permanent housing as quickly as possible.
The Southwest Georgia Housing Task Force conducts monthly educational sessions to support its mission of housing education. This month’s meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 @ 10:00 AM at the Housing and Resource Center, 125 Lester Street, Thomasville, GA. The speakers will be Whittney Mitchell, Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) Program Coordinator for the Georgia Department of Community Affiars.
Ms. Mitchell will discuss programs that provide outreach, shelter, rapid re-housing, homelessness prevention and related services to persons experiencing homelessness, or for persons in danger of becoming homeless, throughout the state
