Albany, Ga. – Phoebe Putney Health System volunteers were honored this afternoon for their hours of service at the 32nd Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon held at the SOWEGA Council on Aging’s Kay Hind Senior Life Enrichment Center. Ms. Harriet Haskins was named the 2015 Volunteer of the Year.
Recognized for demonstrating extraordinary service and dedication, Harriet volunteers in two different departments and is always willing to help where ever she is needed. She actively volunteers at many Phoebe events, including the Jingle Bell Jog each year. She exemplifies the qualities reflected in the hospital’s mission and is one of its biggest supporters.
The volunteer of the year is chosen by the volunteer advisory board, which receives nominations from departments.
“We certainly are fortunate to work with such a dedicated and skilled group of volunteers. From those who crochet blankets, to greeters and gift shop workers, to those who escort patients and guests, our volunteers demonstrate care and attention,” said Suzanne Perrine, director of volunteer services. “Our volunteers truly exemplify the foundation on which Phoebe was founded and positively impact many lives every day.”
More than 500 men and women donate their time to support approximately 80 different areas at Phoebe. During the 2014-2015 year, 522 volunteers gave 54,813 hours of service.
