The vacant position for the Worth County Commissioners District 2 seat is still open for qualifying after some confusion regarding the qualification dates.
Ken Hall, Matt Medders, and Dan Miller qualified last week for the March 18th election. However, on the last day of qualifying, it was determined that the dates to qualify advertised in The Sylvester Local were different than those advertised at the courthouse.
The State of Georgia demands that dates for qualifying be advertised in the legal organ of the county, which for Worth County is The Sylvester Local News. The Registrar’s Office made a change to the dates initially advertised, but did not re-advertise the dates in The Local. So, candidates may still qualify Tues., Jan. 21 and Wed., Jan 22 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and Thurs., Jan 23 from 8:30 a.m. until noon at the Worth County courthouse, Board of Elections office in room 10. The qualifying fee is $176.26.
Provided no other candidates qualify this week, the election will still be held March 18.
