The Board of Directors of Ruth’s Cottage/The Patticake House announce the recent hire of Nancy Bryan as their executive director.Mrs. Bryan brings 25 years of experience in non-profit management to the organization.Board Chair Lynn Lovett of Georgia Power stated, “We are excited to have Nancy join our organization.Her strong leadership skills, knowledge of non-profit organizations and her compassion for people will serve the Tifton Judicial Circuit well.”
The vision of Ruth’s Cottage is “To provide safety and comprehensive support to all victims of family violence and to promote activities that work toward the elimination of violence toward men, women and children.” The mission of Ruth’s Cottage is “To end domestic and sexual violence, as well as child sexual and physical abuse through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to investigations, advocacy and support, while working in the community to change attitudes, beliefs and behaviors.”
Programs and services of RC/PCH include provision of an emergency shelter, a 24-hour hotline, a youth program for children in the shelter, client service management, support groups, legal advocacy, safety planning and information/referral, client transportation, cell phone distribution, community education, professional training, counseling, and dating violence education and prevention program. These programs and services are provided for Tift, Worth, Irwin, Turner and Ben Hill counties. In 2012 there were 288 served by the child advocacy program (The Patticake House) and 740 served by Ruth’s Cottage for a total of 1,028 women and children who sought help and received it when it mattered most.
