Earnest Pate

Mr. Earnest Pate, 88, of Poulan, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Phoebe Worth Medical Center.

The funeral service was at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Poulan Cemetery.  The Rev. Robert Nipper officiated.

Mr. Pate was born on March 13, 1926 in Ashburn, GA to Dan and Lula Mae Rooker Pate. He served during WW II in the United States Army from 1943 to 1947.  He retired from the Worth County Board of Education where he was employed as a bus driver. Mr. Pate loved spending time with his family, sitting on the front porch chatting with visitors, attending yard sales, and his cat, Milky.

Survivors include his wife, Jewel Windham Pate of Poulan; sons, Dan Pate (Melissa ) of Sylvester, Stoney Pate (Michelle) of Sylvester; daughters, Dorothy Pate (Amber) of Leesburg, Rena Webb (Evan) of Sumner; grandchildren, Kyle Pate (Britney), Christen Gibbs (Jon),  Chelcie Pate, Isabella Webb, Stacy Tidey, Anthony Cross, Dodie Albritton; great grandchildren, Lakyn Pate, Trevor Pate, Naomii Knowles, Nevaeh and Elijah Albritton; his loving sister-in-law, Catherine Windham; and his nephew, Richard Windham (Jeanna) who cared for him until his death.

Mr. Pate was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Hanna and Brooke Webb.

Pallbearers included Kyle Pate, Stoney Pate, Obbie Grant, Jr., Richard Windham, Scotty Downs and Cody Evers.
