Jean Carolyn Walters

CrossJean Carolyn Duke Walters, 80, of Sylvester, GA formerly of Albany, GA, died January 11, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services were held Thursday at 3:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Thomas Holloway and Rev. Mike Deloach officiated. Interment followed in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. Wiley Barker, Chuck Farmer, Bob Brooks, Philip Duke, Roger Royal and Jerry Walters served as active pallbearers.

A native of Moultrie, GA she was born to the late Hoyt D. and Lilly Bias Duke. Mrs. Walters graduated from Bridgeboro High School and moved to Albany, GA with her late husband, Ralph Walters in 1953 from Worth County, GA. She was employed with Coates and Clark as a lab technician for over forty years. Mrs. Walters was a member of Mercedes Baptist Church and volunteered at Dr. Bergs Surgical Care for over thirteen years.

Survivors include daughter, Vickie C. Walters and Lisa Shuford of Augusta, GA and daughter, Tammie W. Barker of Sylvester, GA, her adopted daughter, Tammy Holloway of Worth County, GA, three brothers, Harold Duke of Albany, GA, David (Gina) Duke of Worth County, GA and John (Pat) Duke of Randolph County, GA, two grandchildren, Jennifer (Cody) Rogers of Poulan, GA and Richie Barker of Sylvester, GA, two great-grandchildren, Colten and Levi Rogers. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Ralph Duke and James Duke and two sisters, Virginia Heard and Joyce Riley.

The family received friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday at Mathews Funeral Home.
