Mrs. Georgia Brooks Langley, 91, of Sylvester died Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Southern Care Assisted Living.
The funeral service was be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Rev. Harold Thomaston officiated and Mrs. Natalie Mann spoke.
Serving as pallbearers were Randy Walker, Mike Walker, Brian Walker, Kevin Dykes, Tom Mann, Jody Thompson and Toby Worthington.
Mrs. Langley was born on October 14, 1921 in Colquitt County to the late Lonnie Marshall and Willie Lee Hancock Brooks. She lived in Worth County most of her life and was formerly employed with Gayfer’s and Penney’s Department stores and was a homemaker. Mrs. Langley enjoyed reading, cooking and sewing. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Worthington (Joe) of Fitzgerald, Carolyn L. Walker (Randall) of Sylvester and Jeanne Dykes (Leonard) of Tifton; grandchildren, Randy Walker, Mike Walker, Brian Walker, Kevin Dykes, Keith Dykes, Natalie Mann, Melissa Thompson, Toby Worthington and Jay Worthington; brothers; Hiram W. “Jack” Brooks of Sylvester, David Brooks and Charles Brooks of Tifton, Cleston Brooks, Berry Brooks and Terry Brooks, all of Sylvester; sisters, Jewell Barksdale of Sylvester and Joyce Thomaston of Thomasville and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family received friends on Saturday from 1 p.m. until service hour at Banks Funeral Home.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Langley was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Langley on October 28, 2011.
