Mr. Tom A. Parr, 79, of Albany died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service was held at 2:30 PM on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Floral Memory Gardens in Albany. Rev. Charlie Brown and Rev. Craig Barnette officiated.
Mr. Parr was born on October 15, 1938 in Miller County to the late Arthur and Cora Lee Witt Parr. He had lived in Dougherty County since 1968. Mr. Parr was a skilled carpenter and millwright with over 44 years experience. He was a retired Advanced Instructor at Turner Job Corps helping many young people to learn skills for life.
Mr. Parr enjoyed working on old pocket watches and clocks in his spare time. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who deeply loved and cherished his family. Mr. Parr was a man who loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ with all his heart. He was a faithful and active member of Unity Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon and member of the Servant Sunday School Class.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 54 years, Janice Ricks Parr of Albany; sons, Jeffrey Thomas Parr (Paula) and Robert Neal Parr (Angela), all of Sylvester; granddaughter, Abreanna Faith Parr of Sylvester; brother, John Parr of Albany; sister, Bessie Mae Isensee of Maryland and a number of extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Parr was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Parr and a sister, Ardis Parr.
