Ken Strong

Mr. Kenneth “Ken” Matteson Strong, 82 of Poulan, died on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service was held Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel interment followed in the Poulan Cemetery. The Rev. Chuck Knight officiated.

Mr. Strong was born on May 10, 1936 in Oneonta, NY to the late Matteson Craft and Inger Edna Nelson Strong. HE had lived in Worth County since 1989. Mr. Strong served in the New York National Guard. He had worked for many years in the Dairy Industry formulating feed for various companies including Purina and Anheuser-Busch, he later retired as a salesman for Con Agra. Mr. Strong enjoyed Nascar, especially Jeff Gordon, watching NBA Basketball, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Strong was a member of the Poulan Lions Club and was also a member of the Shingler United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Verna Strong of Poulan; daughters, Kenna Smith (MSGT Ret (Bruce) of Nicevile, FL, (LT Col) Kelly Strong (Phil Maxwell) of Freeport, FL, and Kayelynn Simpson (Phillip) of Poulan; grandchildren, Kenn Smith (Allie), Michael Simpson (Kayla), William Simpson, Sarah Williams (Kris), Sandra Carns (Marc) and Ryan Maxwell; great grandchildren, Alex Williams, Morgan Williams, Vincent Rogers, Kaylee Simpson, Jacob Williams, Leia Smith, Micheal Carns, Alyssa Simpson, Lauren Carns and Luke Simpson; sisters, Gloria Platt and Mary Lee Waylett (Skip); and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of the flowers. donations may be made to the Poulan Lions Club, c/o Doyle Rogers, P.O. Box 175, Poulan, Ga. 31781 or the Willson Hospice House, 320 Foundation Ln. Albany, Ga 31707.
