Marjorie Tanner

Mrs. Marjorie Jenkins Tanner, 95 of Sylvester, died on Sunday, July 14, 2019 at her residence.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, interment  followed in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Earnie Pirkle and Rev. Donnie Duncan officiated.

Mrs. Tanner was born on January 7, 1924 in Sylvester, GA., to the late John William and Lillian Ingram Jenkins. She had lived in Sylvester most her life and was a homemaker. Mrs. Tanner was a graduate of the Sylvester High School and later attended the Georgia College for Women. She loved cooking, sewing, but her true passion was to serve others. Mrs. Tanner was a very active member of First Baptist Church of Sylvester, WMU as well as the ABC Senior Adult Class. She volunteered and helped with Vacation Bible School and made cookies for all the children.

Survivors include her children, William Thomas Tanner III (Janice), Jan Tanner Capogreca; grandchildren, Gregory Thomas Tanner, William Jeffrey Tanner (Angie), Christopher Capogreca and Matthew Capogreca; great grandson, Noah Jeffrey Tanner; brother, Billy Jenkins (Melba); numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tanner was preceded in death by her husband, William Thomas Tanner, Jr., on March 14, 2002; brother,              Jimmy Jenkins.
