Oliver Spence

Mr. Oliver L. Spence, 73 of Sylvester died on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Saturday 27, 2019 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, interment  followed in the Hillcrest Cemetery.  Mr. Jason Willis officiated.  

Mr. Spence was born on July 14, 1946 in Worth County to the late William Thomas and Odell Fowler Spence. He had lived in Worth County all of his life and was retired from the City of Sylvester Public Works. Mr. Spence was a member of the Sylvester Church of Christ. He enjoyed painting and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his brother, Larry Spence (Marilyn) of Sylvester; sisters, Ellen Evelyn Clem of Columbia, SC, Martha Slocumb (Don) of Decatur, GA, Olivia Rouse (Lenard) of Milledgeville, GA and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Spence was preceded in death by his brothers, Ed Spence, Troy Spence, John Spence and a sister, Ruth Youngblood. 

Pallbearers for the service included Andy Rouse, Curtis Spence, Tommy Bailey, Todd Storks and Mike Youngblood.
