Robin Fletcher Elmore

Posted on June 9, 2014 By Sylvester Local

While a husband, mother, siblings, relatives and friends mourned the loss of a woman who had brought so much joy to their lives, Robin Fletcher Elmore was rejoicing in her heavenly home after passing away peacefully at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Saturday morning.
Born December 22, 1962 in Albany, Robin was one of Roy Lee and Lois Vesta Fletcher’s five children. She was a Registered Nurse who served patients at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and an avid reader who installed and dedicated a “Littlest Library” reading center to Valdosta grammar school teacher Patsy Devane, who had inspired Robin’s love for the written word.
Preceded in death by her father, Roy Lee Fletcher, and her brother, Roy Lee Fletcher Jr., Robin is survived by her husband, Mike W. Elmore of Sylvester; her mother, Lois Vesta Fletcher of Albany; two sisters, Judy Fletcher May and husband Frances Edward May of Tifton, and Albany City Commissioner Billie Jo “B.J.” Fletcher of Albany; and a brother, Tommy Jay Fletcher and wife Theresa Davis Fletcher of Valdosta.
Other survivors include Francis Edward and Judy May’s children, William Edward May of Covington, Jennifer May Clair of Tifton and Melissa May Ragan of Cuthbert; as well as Tommy and Theresa Davis’s children, Morgan, Sarah and Shelby, all of Valdosta. Robin also is survived by two grand-nephews and four grand-nieces.
Born in Albany and raised in Valdosta, Robin Fletcher Elmore completed her nurses training in Tennessee before moving back home. She and Mike Elmore lived in Sylvester, and she recently joined Gordy New Bethel Baptist Church in Sylvester.
Robin’s viewing was held Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mathews Funeral Home Chapel at 3206 Gillionville Road. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Mathews Chapel, and graveside services were held at 3 p.m. at Riverview Memorial Gardens in Valdosta. Pastor Bill Sims conducted the services.
In lieu of flowers, Robin has asked that contributions be made to the Cancer Coalition of South Georgia. Contributions may be mailed to the Cancer Coalition at 2332 Lake Park Drive, Albany, Ga. 31707.
Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
To sign our online registry or to send condolences to the family, you may visit Mathews’ website at www.mathewsfuneralhome.com.
