SPD Lieutenant Kenneth Washington released information last week on yet another armed robbery of a Sylvester Business. According to the Lieutenant, 911 received a call just before midnight last Wednesday and police were dispatched to J&J Grocery at 506 E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive. The report indicates that a store clerk, 26-year-old Babulul Patel was taking trash out to the dumpster between 11:04 and 11:09 p.m. when a black male, dressed in all black and wearing white shoes placed a small black handgun to his head and demanded money.
The clerk gave the robber his wallet which contained an undisclosed amount of cash and a $25 phone card. Luckily, no one was injured in the incident and the gun was never fired. SPD is encouraging anyone with any information on this crime to call the police department at 776-8501 or crime stoppers at 229-436-TIPS.
