Bill Tate

Bill Cody Tate, 60, of Worth County, GA,died December 8, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Matthews Funeral Home. Rev. Sam Tate and Rev. Herbert Waid will officiate. Interment will follow in Wrights Chapel Cemetery in Worth County, GA.

Bill was a native of Columbus, GA, born to the late Jack and Lois Tate on February 23, 1958. Bill was employed with Moree’s Grocery for over forty years and was also employed with Lineage Logistics. He was a member of Fellowship Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing, watching the Falcons and the Braves. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Darleen Cromer Walsh-Tate, two sisters, Delores Tate and Linda Harnage, a step-daughter, Karen Walsh and step-grandson, Jackson O’Quinn.

Survivors include a son, Brian (Sandy) Lee of Lee County, GA his siblings, Dorthy Hardin (Clint) of Albany, GA, Judy (Ted) Thomas of Worth County, GA, Steve (Nancy) Tate of Sylvester, GA, Patsy (Preston) Barrett of Worth County, GA, Sam (Laura) Tate Luverne, AL and Tammy Holloway of Worth County, GA his grandchildren Lacy Lee and Destiny Lee, his step-children, Kacey (Buddy) Snipes of Baconton, GA, Kelly (Jim) Smith and Kimberly (Brad) Bowen all of Lee County, GA, his grandchildren, Lacy Lee and Destiny Lee, his step-grandchildren, Bryleigh Hawkins, Ryleigh Hawkins, Lindsey Richardson, Sydney Richardson and Haley Richardson.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm Wednesday at Matthews Funeral Home.
