NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
SPECIAL PURPOSE LOCAL OPTION SALES TAX (SPLOST)
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on the 3rd day of November, 2015, an election will be held at the regular polling places in all the election districts of Worth County, Georgia (hereinafter “County”), at which time there will be submitted to the qualified voters of the county for their determination the question of whether a one percent county special purpose local option sales and use tax (hereinafter “SPLOST”) shall be imposed on all sales and uses in the special district created in the County for a period of five (5) years for the raising of approximately $10,500,000.00 for the purpose of funding capital outlay projects (hereinafter “Projects”) specified in the form of the ballot set forth below. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. Sections 48-8-244 and 21-2-540.
The ballot to be used in the election shall have written or printed thereon substantially the following:
Shall a special one percent sales and use tax be imposed in the special district of Worth County for a period of time not to exceed five (5) years and for the raising of an estimated amount of $10,500,000.00 for the purpose of:
(1) funding for Roads, Bridges and other associated major equipment; Governmental Buildings and associated capital equipment; County Operated Buildings and associated capital equipment; Courthouse and associated capital equipment; Recreation Building and Fields and associated capital equipment; Ambulances(s) and associated capital equipment; Fire Department and associated capital equipment for Worth County;
(2) funding Public Safety and associated capital equipment; City Hall Renovations and associated capital equipment; Water and Sewer and associated capital equipment; Roads, Bridges, Sidewalks and associated capital equipment; Park and Recreation and associated capital equipment; Depot Improvements and parking lot; Holley School for the City of Sylvester;
(3) funding for Water Systems Improvements; Governmental Buildings; Public Safety; Parks and Recreation; Roads, Streets, Bridges, Drainage and Walkways; and Capital Equipment for the City of Poulan;
(4) funding for Water System Improvements; Sidewalk Improvements; Street Improvements and Recreation and Parks Improvements for the City of Warwick; and,
(5) funding for Fire Department; City Hall; Water; Recreation; Roads, Streets, Bridges; and Street Equipment and Repairs for the City of Sumner.”
