The Christmas spirit was dampened for many local residents last week as the community learned of the passing of former Sylvester Assistant Chief of Police Margaret White. Following a 27-year career with SPD White retired in February of 2013. Recalling memories of a good friend and longtime public servant, Chief Wayne Jennings commented Monday morning,
“We were friends. We didn’t have a boss-employee type of relationship. We were partners. She was a tremendous asset to this department, and we’re all going to miss her. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.”
Chief Jennings also noted that AC White was loved by many in Sylvester. He said she couldn’t go anywhere without someone stopping her to “hug her neck.” She simply loved to help people.
