CooperCraft Announces Merger with Select-Tel

Posted on June 10, 2013 By Sylvester Local

The success story of CooperCraft Communications continues to grow.
The Tifton-based communications company recently merged Select-Tel Systems into the CooperCraft family, a network specialist company based in Albany. The merger brings CooperCraft Communications to a total of 45 employees, an impressive feat for the home-grown business that is just over a decade old and began in a small Sylvester office.
“We are excited to merge and partner with the employees of Select-Tel systems,” said CooperCraft Communications CEO Jerry Cooper. “They have proven to be a well-run, strong business throughout the years and we are looking forward to the opportunity of serving the existing Select-Tel customers.”
Despite economic issues over the last five years that all companies have dealt with, CooperCraft has found success with innovative ideas and an emphasis on customer service. Jerry Cooper founded the company in 2002 with a vision to overcome many of the hurdles found in large corporations, and making technological innovations more accessible to local businesses. With the addition of Darrell Powell as partner, and Jim Hall as Vice President of Sales, they have made CooperCraft a recognized brand for customers needing security solutions, network infrastructures, and integrated communication systems.
Select-Tel opened in 1993 as an engineering firm, designing outside plant cable and electronics for the telephone industry. The company grew into a full-service network integrator with experienced staff in all areas of networking computers, telephone systems, and other low voltage systems. Select-Tel was chosen the Small Business of the Year by the Albany Chamber of Commerce in 2001.
The merger with Select-Tel Systems will appear seamless to most as no immediate changes in email addresses or phone numbers will be made. But Erin Parker, marketing specialist for CooperCraft, said the new venture offers meaningful advantages for both CooperCraft and Select-Tel customers as they receive new expertise and a larger number of field technicians.
“CooperCraft Communications is excited about the opportunity of expanding our business to meet all the client’s needs,” Cooper said. “Tom Aldridge (President of Select-Tel Systems) has more than 20 years of experience in fire and life safety and will be director of this newly developed division (within CooperCraft).”
Along with many customers in Southeast GA, CooperCraft serves clients throughout the southeastern United States with offices in Tifton, Albany and Buford GA. For more information about the newly expanded company, visit www.CooperCraftCommunications.com or call (229) 396-5800.
