Worth County Fire Rescue responded to a reported “trailer on fire” at approximately 7 p.m. on Hwy 33 just at the Colquitt County line in Doerun. The driver of the van towing the trailer of pine straw was returning to his place of employment, Claribels, located on the corner of Hwy 82 and Isabella Street in Sylvester. According to the employee, he had been previously instructed to fill a slack tire on the trailer with air, but failed to do so. When he finally realized the tire was flat, he pulled over to find the trailer engulfed in flames. WCFR was able to quickly extinguish the fire. Upon notifying his employer of the mishap, the driver was promptly terminated.
