Inez Horten Grant

Mrs. Inez Horten Grant, 70, of Sylvester died Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at her residence.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Rocky Creek Primitive Baptist Church with interment to follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Elder Wendell Horten and Elder John Phillips will officiate.

Mrs. Grant was born on October 13, 1943 in Sumner, GA. to the late Lewis Edward and Bertha Hazel Varnadoe Horten. She had lived in Worth County and Sylvester most of her life. Mrs. Grant loved Rocky Creek Primitive Baptist Church where she was a member. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her heart. She formerly managed the Suwannee Swifty Store, Holiday Market and worked at Pap’s Fried Chicken for several years. Mrs. Grant enjoyed sitting on her porch and working on her puzzles.

Survivors include her husband, Obbie Grant, Sr. of Sylvester; daughters, Ida Mills (Mike) of Sylvester; Nita Coker (Richey) of Sylvester; son, Obbie Grant, Jr. (Donna) of Sylvester; grandchildren, Crystal Mills, Tabitha Mills, Matthew Coker, Victoria Coker, Jaylen Toles and Dee Dee Barry; seven great grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Young of Sylvester; brother, Wendell Horten (Pat) of Sylvester; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Mrs. Grant was preceded in death by her sisters, JoAnn Horten, Maxine Pate and Daphine Pate; grandsons, Lewis Mills and Christopher Oates.

Pallbearers included, Mike Mills, Matthew Coker, Allen Berry, Richey Schmitt, Brady Manley and Cody Clements. Honorary Pallbearers included, Wright Marchant, Eugene Bailey, Robert Tucker, Walter Todd, Justin McClelland and Dan Pate.
