Jane Sawyer Riner Medders

Mrs. Jane Sawyer (Riner) Medders, 92, of Albany formerly of Sylvester died Thursday August 1, 2013 at Phoebe North in Albany after a brief illness.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at Lakeside Baptist Church, 2806 N. Jefferson St., Albany, GA 31701 with interment following in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Sylvester.  Rev. Ken Chancellor officiated.
Serving as pallbearers were Tommy Sawyer, Bill Albery, Jim Farmer, Hal Sawyer, Bill Farmer and Gerry Sawyer.
Mrs. Medders was born in Sylvester on December 14, 1920 to the late Bennie Lee and Bessie Corene Harmon Sawyer. During her work life she was employed by the Empire Mercantile Company, but principally worked as a teller and bookkeeper for the Bank of Worth (now Suntrust Bank), retiring as an assistant cashier.  Mrs. Medders enjoyed traveling and loved her grand and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Charles Robert Riner, Jr.; a daughter, Bobbie Jane Riner Gay (Tommy); a granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh Gay Carpenter (Jay); a grandson, Thomas Riner Gay (Weatherly); a great-grandson, Lawrence Jennings Carpenter III; two great-granddaughters, Mattie Jane Carpenter and Emmaline Sawyer Carpenter; a sister, Zelda Jean Sawyer Farmer; a brother, Harry Enis Sawyer and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Medders was preceded in death her husbands, Charles Robert “Bob” Riner, Sr. and Lloyd Howell Medders; her brothers, Ernest Lee Sawyer, Clarence Edwin Sawyer and Gerald Winston Sawyer and Infant Sawyer.
For those desiring memorials may be made to Lakeside Baptist Church, 2806 N. Jefferson St., Albany, GA 31701.
Banks Funeral Home in Sylvester was in charge of the arrangements.
