Jobs Cut as Phoebe Worth Restructures

Phoebe Worth Medical Center Confirmed in a recent release that four positions will be cut as the local hospital undergoes restructuring,

“The decision to reduce our workforce was not made lightly. Hospitals nationwide – including critical access hospitals – are struggling with loss of volume, reimbursement reductions, new regulations and reform uncertainties,” said Kim Gilman, CEO, Phoebe Worth Medical Center. “Hospitals have a mandate to reduce cost and improve quality for the communities we serve. Our goal has been to approach labor cost controls through attrition, or by not filling vacant positions as appropriate. But the economic outlook we face today demands a deeper restructuring.”

According to the statement issued by Phoebe’s marketing department, “four full-time Phoebe Worth Medical Center positions were impacted by a restructure, two of which were administrative positions.”

The press release also stated,

“We do have vacant positions within the health system. Those impacted will maintain their benefits for a full 30 days and be placed on a preferred list for opportunities for employment throughout the system.  We will do everything we can to aid our Phoebe Family members.”
