Johnny Houston, Jr.

Mr. Johnny  Houston, Jr., 59 of Poulan, died on Friday, August 30, 2019 at his residence.

The funeral service was held at 11:00 AM on Monday September 2, 2019 at the Poulan Baptist Church, interment followed in the Poulan Cemetery. The Rev. Nick Arbogast, Rev. Terry Siniard Rev. Trey Brown and Rev. Fred White officiated.  

Mr. Houston was born on July 27, 1960 in Sylvester, GA., to Hobby and Joyce Houston. He had lived in Poulan all of his life and was the Owner and Operator of Houston Construction and Turdle Head Pumping Services, and was also the Volunteer Fire Chief at the Poulan Fire Dept. for many years. He enjoyed deep sea fishing and woodworking, but most importantly spending time with his friends and family. Mr. Houston never met a stranger and enjoyed talking with everyone he met. He was a member of the Poulan Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dana Hathcock Houston of Poulan; children, Meri Beth Arbogast (Nick) of Memphis, Indiana; step children, Dylan Walters (Alisha) of Worth County, Kaitlyn Walters (Sawyer) of Poulan; mother, Joyce Houston of Poulan; sister, Julie Rogers (Doyle) of Poulan; grandchildren, Naomi, Carson, Ellie and Kylee; a number of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.

Mr. Houston was preceded in death by his father, John Hobby Houston, Sr., on December 5, 2010; daughter, Anna Lea Houston on May 23, 1997.
