A pair of Sylvester residents were convicted in federal court last Tuesday on charges that they participated in a bribery and fraud scheme at MCLB Albany and essentially stole millions of dollars from the U.S. Government. According to a release issued by the U.S. Department of Justice on January 22, 2014, Christopher Whitman, then co-owner of United Industrial, or ULOC, a trucking company out of Albany was indicted on 43 counts of money, property, and honest services wire fraud. Additionally, the Sylvester man was charged with five counts of bribery, and one count of theft of government property.
