Lucille Brooks Shipley

Mrs. Lucille Brooks Shipley, 89, of Poulan died Wednesday October 23, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday October 27, 2013 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery. Elder Lamar Robinson and Rev. Mark Spraggins officiated.
Mrs. Shipley was born on January 28, 1924 in Worth County to the late George Washington and Willie Verna Pate Brooks. She lived in Worth County all of her life and retired from Sylvester Textile after 30 years. Mrs. Shipley was a gifted seamstress, and enjoyed making quilts and embroidering. She attended Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Lynn Shipley of Poulan, Jane S. Hausman of Albany, and Vera S. Spraggins (Mark) of Leesburg; grandchildren, Leigh Hausman, Savannah Spraggins and Kiley Spraggins; great grandchildren, Cheyenne Albritton, Lance Albritton and Rheya Denton; sisters, Marjorie Robinson of Ty Ty and Georgia Ann Corbin of Albany.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Shipley was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Shipley on February 21, 1988; a son, Steve Shipley in 1966 and a brother, James Brooks.
Pallbearers included Jon Robinson, Vasco Canaday, Stephen Meeks, Lewis Pate, Keith Freeman and Clay Lawson.
