Runelle Lundy Moore

Mrs. Runelle Lundy Moore, 99, of Sylvester died Friday March 28, 2014 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2014 at First Baptist Church with interment following in Hillcrest Cemetery.  Dr. Ben Bush will officiate.
Pallbearers included Johnny Cochran, Brett Cochran, Jimmy Cochran, Lee Palmer, Phillip Cobb, and Morgan Cobb.
Mrs. Moore was born on March 02, 1915 on her family farm in Worth County to the late Walter Lewis and Claude E. Ridley Lundy and lived all her life in Worth County. She married James Thomas (J. T.) Moore in 1939. She joined First Baptist Church in 1930 and was an active member of the Mary Paul Baskin Circle, ABC’s Senior Adults and the Bykota Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Barnard Trail Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Sylvester Woman’s Club, Green Thumb Garden Club, Worth County Historical Society, Good Sam Camping Club and the Pioneer Promenaders Square Dancing Club.
She worked at the Worth County Courthouse in the Sheriff’s Office, the District Attorney’s Office, and the Health Department in her early years. Later, she worked with her husband and brother at Georgia Pecan Sales Company in Albany until her husband’s retirement. Mrs. Moore held several appointed positions, one of which was as a Jury Commissioner for the State of Georgia which made her one of the first women to hold that post in Georgia. She was appointed to the Board of Registrars in 1979 and became Chief Registrar in 1989, a position she held until she retired in 1993 at the age of 78. Mrs. Moore enjoyed researching family genealogy, family reunions, Worth County history, playing cards with her friends, and church activities.
Survivors include her daughter, Sylvia M. Dinkel (Joe) of Sylvester; grandchildren, Brett Dawson (Alisa) of Riverside, CA; Dewana Kirkwood of Albany and Sam Dinkel (Sheree) of Tifton;  great-grandchildren, Emma Dawson, Cory White, Jonathan and Jessica Dinkel and Ashley, Dustin and Connor Kirkwood; and special friends, Cynthia Crawford, Terri Johnson, Lowarnia Richardson, and Christine Williams.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, J.T. Moore on June 18, 1997; brother, Walter Hillyer Lundy; sister, Ennis Nadine Wilkerson and her nephew, Henry Leroy Wilkerson, Jr.
