Troy Melton Spence

Mr. Troy Melton Spence, 81, of Sylvester died Tuesday September 10, 2013 at his residence.

The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Thursday September 12, 2013 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in the Hillcrest Cemetery with Rev. Jason Willis officiating.

Mr. Spence was born on November 27, 1931 in Shingler to the late William Thomas and Odell Fowler Spence. He lived in Worth County all of his life and served in the United States Army. He was formerly employed with Park Built Bodies where he retired as a foreman after many years. Mr. Spence enjoyed hunting, fishing and helping in the yard. He was a member of the Sylvester Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Brooks Spence of Sylvester; son, Curtis Melton Spence of Sylvester; brothers, Ed Spence (Linda) of Poulan, Oliver Spence of Sylvester, and Larry Spence (Marilyn) of Sylvester; sisters, Evelyn Clem of Kershaw, SC, Martha Slocomb (Don) of Woodstock, Ruth Youngblood (Gene) of Blountsville, AL and Olivia Rouse (Leonard) of Milledgeville; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers included Randy Brooks, Eric Clemens, Keith Slocomb, W. J. Deal, Todd Spence and Andy Rouse.

In addition to his parents Mr. Spence was preceded in death by two brothers, George Spence and John S. Spence, and two brothers-in-law, Junior Brooks and Paul Clem.

The family received friends on Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Banks Funeral Home.
