Wayne A. Chambless

Mr. Wayne A. Chambless, 72, of Sylvester died Sunday, December 21, 2014 at Tift Regional Medical Center.

A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, December 26, 2014 at the New Bethel Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ed Waller will officiate.

Mr. Chambless was born on May 17, 1942 in Winfield, AL to the late William A. and Sallie Mae Ables Chambless.  He had lived in Worth County most of his life.  Mr. Chambless served as a minister for 32 years and was active in the Civil Defense.  He retired from Volkswagon of Albany after 28 ½ years as an Automotive Technician.  Mr. Chambless enjoyed fishing and camping.  He was a member of the New Bethel Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his son, Robert D. Chambless (Melinda); daughter, Penny C. Lowe (Robert); grandchildren, Robert Wayne Lowe, Brian Paul Lowe and Payton Chambless; mother-in-law, Ruth Sanderson and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Chambless was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Lou Sanderson Chambless on July 21, 1992 and 6 siblings.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 26 from 12:30 at 1:30 PM at Banks Funeral Home.
