Worth County Native is Awarded Artist of the Month

Posted on April 14, 2015 By Sylvester Local

The Turner County Arts Council proudly presents Myra Hurst as our featured artist this month at the Victoria Evans Library. Myra lives in Worth County and is well-known throughout the arts community here in South Georgia as a winner of awards in many art shows and a teacher of both beginner and accomplished painters. Her dedicated occupation is art therapy for Alzheimer’s patients. Along with painting classes – both private and group – Myra teaches cake decorating!
Myra’s love of nature is evident in her work; landscapes, flowers, and animals but she is fascinated by old home places and has been commissioned by many families to capture their memories on canvass. Her mediums are mainly oil and acrylic. She can be reached at 229-776-7276.
Also featured this month is a young artist, Faith Railey, from Enigma, GA. Faith is the 12 year old granddaughter of Myra Hurst (see above) and has won in every art show she has entered! She is a very talented young lady whose interests are also knitting, sewing, swimming, and singing.
Please come enjoy and support our artists each month as all the work we display is absolutely amazing!
