William R. “Bill” Spurgeon

Mr. William R. “Bill” Spurgeon, 61, of Poulan died Sunday December 27, 2015 in Birmingham Alabama.

The funeral service was held at 2:00 PM on Thursday December 31, 2015 at the Isabella Baptist Church the interment followed in the Isabella Cemetery. The Rev. Jason Jones and Rev Rob Gray officiated.

Mr. Spurgeon was born on January 17, 1954 in Kansas City, KS, to the late William Roy and Katherine Wright Brungardt Spurgeon. He had lived in Worth County for the past 23 years and was employed with Toole Floor Coating. Mr. Spurgeon was retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sgt. having served in Operation Desert Storm. He enjoyed going to the beach and spending time with family. Mr. Spurgeon had a knack to fix almost anything.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Bozeman Spurgeon of Poulan; children, William “Billy” Spurgeon (Amber) of Ramstein Air Base, Germany, Patrick “PJ” Spurgeon (Nikki) of Tifton GA, Trever Spence (Jessica) of Albany, and Jeff Farrier ( Christina) of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Jayden Spurgeon, Conner Spurgeon, Madison Spurgeon, Landon Spence, Levi Spurgeon, Grayson Spence, Hudson Spence, Lexi Sachse, Cameron Sachse and Lauren Roe ; brothers, Steve Spurgeon, Mike Spurgeon both of Kanas City MO; sisters, Mary Pope (Bob), Judy Douglas, Jackie Spurgeon and Cindy Long (Randy) all of Kanas City MO; step-sister, Dianna Godfrey (Dave); mother-in-law, Martha L. Hancock of Poulan GA; sisters-in-law, Joni Bozeman, Linda Westberry, Jacki Hancock and a brother-in-law, Michael Hancock.

Active pallbearers were, Brad Calloway, Brent Calloway, Chance Bennett, Christopher Leggett, Chris Westberry and Conner Spurgeon; honorary pallbearers include, Stephen Westberry, Francis Toole, Bud Snipes, Zara Stephens, John Free, Steve Boyette, Keith Calloway, Tommy Lee, Tommy Bozeman, Ronnie Bozeman and Michael Hancock
