Glenda Tidwell Robbins passed away at the age of 74 years. A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 23rd at 10:00 am at Poulan City Cemetery.
Glenda is the youngest daughter of 9 children of the late Elmon and Maggie Tidwell. She grew up in Poulan, Ga where she attended Worth County High School. Glenda married a military man that lived all over the U.S. and finally retiring in Dobson, N.C. Her husband, Major Richard Robbins taught at the local Community College. Glenda was very active in the church she attended. She also loved to work in her yards, growing beautiful flowers for each season. She served as a coordinator at her local food pantry. She also started up a program called Respite care for families in need. She was a wonderful counselor and friend to all of those who needed help. Among her many loves as well as reading, she loved to paint pictures, where one of her paintings of the Poulan Library is where she learned to love books. Her painting of the Poulan Library is hanging at the Poulan City Hall.
Glenda is preceded in death by her daughter, Carmen Sykes Marshell. She is served by her husband, Major Richard Robbins of Dobson, N.C. Her son, Daniel Sykes/Vickie Sykes of Fort Walden Beach, Fl. Grand Children; Cameron and Allen Mackwell of Houston, Texas, Elizabeth and Katherine Sykes of Dobson, N.C. Kayla and Shane Hill of Greensboro, N.C. Magen and Eli Taney of New Mexico. Megan of N.C. and one great-grand baby, Kimberly Hill, and a sister, Betty Tidwell Nelms of Poulan, Ga.
Rev. Ronnie Lawson and Rev. Wilbur Harris will officiate the service. Banks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
