Silas Tomberlin

Mr. Silas M. Tomberlin, 86, of TyTy, died on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville Ga.

The funeral service was held at 3:00 PM on Friday December 27, 2019 at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, interment followed in the Damascus Cemetery with full military honors. The Rev. Ronnie Howell officiated.  

Mr. Tomberlin was born on March 11, 1933 in Tift County to the late Mark and Ethel Willis Tomberlin. He had lived in TyTy all of his life and was a retired bus driver with Trailways. Following retirement, he owned and operated Tomberlin Bus Tours. He was a United Sates Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Tomberlin enjoyed raising his cows, hogs and working on his farm.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn H. Tomberlin of TyTy; daughter, Debbie Chestnutt (Drew) of TyTy; brother, Bill Tomberlin; sister, Sibbie Anderson; special nephew, Ronnie Anderson; special nieces, Mary Frances Crownover and Joann Davis; numerous nieces, nephews, step grandchildren and step great grandchildren

In addition to his parents, Mr. Tomberlin was preceded in death by his siblings, Kenneth Tomberline, Pauline Snellgrove, Dorothy Nobles, Bessie Mae Dekle and Sue Tomberlin.
