Mrs. Floria Huggins Nelms, 80, of Poulan, died on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
The funeral service was held at 3:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Poulan Baptist Church, interment followed in the Poulan Cemetery. The Rev. Mike DeLoach and Rev. Freddie White officiated.
Mrs. Nelms was born on May 1, 1939 in Worth County, to the late Warren and Ludie Vandora Huggins. She had lived in Worth County most of her life and was employed at Coats and Clark as well as J&L Pulpwood for many years. When her husband was injured in a logging accident in 1980, she gave up everything and became a full time caregiver. She always put everyone before herself and was a beautiful soul. Everyone that knew her instantly loved her because of her vibrant personality and her love of life. She always found the positive in every situation. She enjoyed working in her yards and spending time with her family. Family was everything to her.
Mrs. Nelms volunteered at Poulan Recreation Department and City of Poulan Christmas program. Mrs. Nelms was a member of Poulan Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She always enjoyed working with children and supplying them with candy each Sunday. She had many friends but her special group of friends, “The Golden Girls, enjoyed being together and attending many of the Friday night senior dances.
Survivors include her children, Bobby Nelms of Poulan, Jenny Granberry (Dowling) of Tifton; daughter-in-law, Becky Nelms of Poulan; grandchildren, Warren Nelms (Cara), Dustin Nelms (Gina), Tearston Adams (Casey), Ady Granberry, Melanie Davis and seven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Nelms was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Nelms; son, Danny Nelms and a grandson, Scott Nelms.
